I appreciate the layout and design of this website. The homepage banners, news articles, twitter feed, and Facebook plugs have all been well placed. However, this website is filled with ads which is not healthy for user experience. I'll discuss this further later, for now let's just focus on the design.
Header
The background of each option is different, giving you a lot of variety when it comes to selecting what you want to see.
The SportMargin header section has six options on the left and a search bar towards the right. The black background with a green accent looks really cool. As for the six options, you have Home, Football, Standing, Fixtures, Results and Live Sports Streams. Each of these categories has its own sub-category in the drop-down menu so that you can find what you're looking for easily. For instance, when you hover over the ?Fixtures? tab, you'll see options like the Premier League, Championship, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Europa League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A. The backgrounds of each option are different which gives you lots of variety when choosing what to watch!
Hero Section
I like the Hero Section on the website because there are five different banners. The main banner is followed by four thumbnail-like banners. Each cover photo has a grey gradient, which makes the text stand out. There are also buttons for Facebook and News and Information, and tweets on the right side of the page.
Body
As you scroll down the page, you will be overwhelmed with the number of ads appearing on the sidebar. In this section, you want to focus on the center where all of the meat is. You will find news, feature stories, previews and post-match insights in this section. As you scroll further down, you will get more articles covering different stories with ads appearing on either side as you scroll.
Footer
The footer section on SportMargin offers quick navigation options. There are five options in this section - About Us, Writer's Dashboard, Join our team, DMCA/DCMA, and Contact. I think it?s great that the Writer's Dashboard will help you become a part of the SportMargin writing team. However, the ads detract from what could be a great experience.
SportMargin has an interface that is ruined by excessive ads. It follows a classic money-first approach which degrades the user experience. Though the ads are placed well and aren't intrusive, there are just too many of them to keep your experience intact. I browsed SportMargin on my Dell Vostro and iPhone XR, and didn't have any difficulty in browsing the website. Apart from the ad discrepancies, there weren't many loopholes on this website. However, the ads detract from what could be a great experience.
Suggestions I have for SportMargin
I would recommend the developers of SportMargin to reduce the number of ads that appear on the homepage. Other than that, they should consider embedding YouTube videos from sources such as HITC Sports, ESPN FC, One Football, Squawka, and other reputable sources.
