Back when streaming services were all Netflix, life was simple. You just went to Netflix.com and browsed their selection of TV and movie content. There were no release dates or expiration dates to keep track of- all the streaming platforms were one big, confusing mess. It was easy - just go to Netflix, choose what you wanted to watch and watch it. Done deal. Nothing more.
With all these choices, it can be hard to know where to even start!
Today, there are many streaming services to choose from and each offers its own original content, as well as a constantly cycling list of syndicated programs. It can be hard to know where to start when choosing which service to use.
It can be a dizzying affair trying to keep track of what service has what show or movie at any given time. Not only is it hard enough to try and remember whether it was Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon Prime Video that produced my favorite shows, like Righteous Gemstones - oh, wait, but that was also HBO! D'oh! But add to the confusion the fact that each syndicated program and movie is only featured on each service for a limited time, and it can be a challenge.
Did you know that Google doesn't always have the answer to questions like "where can I watch Schitt's Creek"? In most cases, Google is a great resource that can provide answers quickly, but with questions like this one, it may not be as helpful. Sometimes you will find the answer, but it usually takes some digging and scrolling to find it.
If only there was a website like Google that would allow you to easily search for and find streaming content with detailed information on which platforms have it and how much it cost.
There are numerous sites like this that exist, and of course there is because if you can think it, chances are it is on the internet somewhere. That being said, not every one of these sorts of sites is created equal. Some streaming site search engines are better designed (naturally) than others. But another thing to keep in mind when choosing a streaming site search engine is how many platforms that the site allows you to search between. Some of these sites have a pitiful list of options.
If you're looking for a go-to streaming site search engine, ReelGood has plenty to offer. It is one of the largest streaming site search engines out there, so it has a lot to offer. However, it also offers many convenience features that make it easier to use. Let's take a look at all of them!
History
The streaming site search engines provide services that scan across all of the current content of streaming sites when you search a title. It is important to note that these sites do not host any content- they will merely tell you what streaming service has or does not have a certain show or movie. Some streaming site search engines also provide you with links to purchase Blu Ray or DVD copies of the titles if you wish.
Reel Good is a site that provides basic features without requiring registration. However, if you decide to register (for free), you will be able to gain access to special functions, such as linking your accounts so that you can access all of your favorite streaming sites from one convenient portal.
Streaming site search engines have been around for a while and became popular around 2015. Reel Good is one of the older streaming site search engines and it has been considered to be the best by Decider.com and Wired in 2017.
Design and Content
This is one of the best features of Reel Good, if you ask me. The layout of the site is very similar to Netflix, which makes browsing and finding new content an enjoyable and familiar experience. Whether you're just browsing, or you're looking for a specific title, Reel Good provides everything you need for a great user experience.
ReelGood provides movie lovers with an easy way to browse titles and watch them immediately, as well as an archive of information about each film. Clicking into a movie provides information such as ratings and reviews.
Alongside where it is currently available to stream, you will also be able to see the Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB scores, synopses, cast and crew lists, and some Reel Good-specific scores. Reel Good offers both a stream ability score for the title, as well as an aggregated Reel Good critic score (based on ratings and reviews from around the web).
Reel Good streamlines the streaming experience by recommending titles that are similar to ones you searched for. It also provides a list of movies and shows that have been liked by other users. This site truly has the potential to be the one-stop-shop for all your streaming needs. I may not even go to Netflix or Hulu anymore, this site is so helpful! I may just start visiting Reel Good first and linking my accounts. I don't see why not - if you have multiple video streaming service accounts, it truly makes the experience much more convenient if you ask me!
Mobile and Desktop Experience
I like the desktop site better than the app. I think it would be hard to pull off an app like this - and, considering that fact, the Reel Good team does a good job - so I think it just requires a computer to really get the most out of it. Movies themselves are kind of the same way, right?
Overall, I think the app is pretty good. It's not perfect by any means, but it's not bad either. It has a slightly clunky interface and can be a little more difficult to navigate, but not by much. And yes, the app is only available on the Apple App Store- sorry Android users. On average, it has 4.3 stars from reviewers there, which I think is appropriate.
Pricing and Plans
Reel Good is a great resource that is completely free to use. I was shocked to find out because of all the great features it offers. There are occasional ads, but those are small prices to pay for all the benefits Reel Good has to offer (not to mention how beautifully it's designed).
Suggestions that I have for Reel Good
It wouldn't be impossible to view the content on Reel Good directly, rather than having it show up as a pop-up on their site. It would be nice if we could have previews and trailers shown directly on the site as well. This is just a brainstorm, so don't get too excited.
Conclusion
Reel Good makes it simple and easy to search for streaming sites by letting you enter all your services in one go. Try it out today and take the stress out of streaming!
