Movies have been an integral part of the entertainment industry for a long time. They have a massive impact on people around the world, and for some, they act as an escape route from their monotonous lives. For others, watching movies and appreciating cinema has become a passion. Over the years, the content has evolved to suit the needs of the viewers, and it'll continue to evolve in the future. Films can transport the audience into a different dimension, and not just educate but also influence them negatively or positively.
Recent years have seen an improvement in technology, with the rise of 3D movies being replaced by IMAX and 4DX. In time, even these technologies will be surpassed by something better. All in all, movies are a vital part of our lives and they provide us with a way to connect with others and learn about practical life and perception. They also have the potential to teach us a lot about ourselves. That's why many people love being part of a larger community.
A movie is accepted or rejected based on the mass consensus. The reason much of this can be accredited to the bandwagon effect is that, in my opinion, it's unjust. But your perception can differ from mine, and that's the beauty of being a part of this broader community. Today, we're going to be reviewing one of the lesser-known movie-related communities known as r/Movie_Club.

My recent experience on r/Movie_Club

My most recent experience on r/Movie_Club was yesterday. I was browsing through the weekly posts and stumbled across this poll. Though it just had two upvotes, the original post on r/polls attracted 254 votes. What was it about? It was a question asking the users, ?On average, when you go to watch a movie, how many people do you go with??
On average, people prefer to watch movies with a partner rather than by themselves or with family members. This was one of the most insightful pieces of content posted on this subreddit.

About r/Movie_Club - Community & Members

The community has 23,400 members, of which 12-30 of them are online at any given time. This subreddit was created on July 20, 2015 and has been growing steadily over the past two years. Nonetheless, the engagement is quite low because not many people are active on this sub. A couple dozen members are active in real-time, but the majority of users are inactive.

How to access r/Movie_Club?

If you're not a Reddit user, you can sign up for an account here. Once you've done so, you'll be able to follow subreddits, comment on posts, and even post anything on any of the subreddits.

Moderators of r/Movie_Club

One of the ten moderators of r/Movie_Club is Bondle. They ensure that the page is up to date and that users are posting content adhering to community guidelines. At the time of review, they are Alaharon123, PandaCow64,WheeledJustice, darkchiefly, Movie_Club_Moderator, Lukeeman, AutoModerator, Brianjaction.

Why should you follow r/Movie_Club?

Members of this subreddit don't just review movies and participate in polls; they also request titles. Being a group filled with movie fanatics is a boon, as you can rely on the recommendation you get. For instance, there was this post where the OP requested Proper scary movies to watch on Halloween, as well as a few classics.? He later summarized the title and set his expectations straight. As a viewer, if you have something helpful, you'd obviously recommend movies and titles. And that's how the communication begins.

Community Engagement

I was disappointed to see that the engagement rate on this subreddit is quite low. Only a handful of posts are getting upvotes, and most of those are just mod announcements. It's not surprising given how inactive the majority of users are, but it's still depressing. If you want to find the top content from the past week, you're going to have to look elsewhere.

Browsing & Navigation

Even if there are many videos and other rich media, navigating across menus and scrolling through content isn't tiring because the posts load instantly. This means you save a lot of time because there are fewer active members.

Reddit Gold

I wasn't expecting anything with regard to Reddit Gold. With a community whose engagement is less than 0.5%, you can understand that the content on it isn't generally gold worthy. Most of the informative subs have this problem. Here, people don't feel like awarding gold to a fellow member because they're not getting any significant input or humor from the post. I browsed the page for 10 minutes and didn't find a single gold.

Filter by flair

Another downside to r/Movie_Club is the lack of different flair options. As an user scrolling through posts, it can be hard to find posts from your preferred topic area. Filter by flair would make it easy for you to see posts from categories that interest you. For example, if you want to participate in polls or get recommendations, the subreddit should have those options available, so you can check them out. Unfortunately, r/Movie_Club only has one option, which is locked.

Important rules you must know before joining r/Movie_Club?

Before clicking the "Join" button on any sub, please read about the rules and regulations of that page. If you do not adhere to those rules, you may be banned and that's not good. So, here are some of the r/Movie_Club rules that you need to follow:
Please do not post any spoilers in the comments.
will be tolerated. No advertising or low effort posts will be allowed.
Here Don't bring up piracy or torrenting here. We don't want to get caught up in any discussions about that.
on All Blog Posts No blog post without a title tag!
Please do not engage in hate speech, spam, or circlejerking.

Design

One of the most underwhelming aspects of this subreddit is its design. Similar to the /r/entertainment subreddit, the /r/MovieClub subreddit has a generic Saturn logo with a blue cover. With over 20,000 members, at least the community icon should be changed to ensure that the page stands out. But that's not the case on this subreddit, which is quite disappointing.

Conclusion

The movie club is a cool platform in its distinctive niche. However, it's not very engaging, and as a member, don't expect to get upvotes or even comments on your posts. It's mostly a passive community that appears past its peak.
