Gaming has come a long way in the last decade, and it's now enjoyed by everyone regardless of their age, gender, or personality. Each year, gaming generates over $160 billion around the world which shows just how popular it has become.
Over the years, gaming has evolved from basic graphics and sound to incredible graphics and sounds. Faster processors and better hardware have allowed for more realistic games which have caught the attention of Reddit, who created a subreddit dedicated to gaming called r/Gaming.
Today, we'll be looking into one of the most popular subreddits, r/Videos.

My recent experience on r/Gaming

I saw the most recent post on r/gaming that really moved me. It featured an old man exercising his playful demons using a V/R headset. What's so lovely about this post was the caption. The user u/randybigbones shared "I used to play games in the basement of his house, now he plays games in my basement." This post was such a breath of fresh air in a time where older generations are treating the youth like an outcast because of the dependence on technology. The post within 12 hours of its upload raked in an impressive 66,000 upvotes.

About r/Gaming - Community & Members

With over 26 million subscribers, r/Gaming is one of the biggest subreddits on the platform. I remember starting to follow this page when it was at 1 million. I can't believe how far it has come since it began its journey back on September 17, 2007. The community is expanding and not that it's bad, but over a period of time, the signal to noise ratio becomes hard to manage.

How to access r/Gaming?

If you're already a Reddit member, you can simply type "r/Gaming?" in your search bar and follow the subreddit. However, if you're new to the platform, you'll need to create an account and confirm your email address. Once you do so, you'll be able to follow subreddits, comment on posts, and even post anything on any of the subreddits.

Moderators of r/Gaming

The subreddit, r/Gaming, is one of the largest communities on Reddit. It can easily start its own independent platform. 22 million by no means is a small number and thus managing the community and maintaining the decorum cannot be an individual's responsibility. As seen with other huge subreddits, there are quite a few moderators to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning on these pages.
In r/Gaming's case, I found 10 main moderators at the time of writing this review. These are Dacvak, synbios16, gamingmoderator, mookler, Rlight, Analtoast, delicious_cheese, MisterWoodhouse, Redbiertje, and Umdlye.

Why should you follow r/Gaming?

reddit is a very active site and the best content on any given day is able to garner many upvotes. For instance, the top five posts today have accumulated over 300,000 upvotes.

Community Engagement

I love Reddit's active communities, and this one is definitely a livewire. The problem with this subreddit is that you can't judge it based on comments. Thus, if we saw it based on upvotes, I feel that it gets over 1 million upvotes every day. As far as the interaction goes, there are an average of 200-250 comments on each post. In some of the most popular posts, the number even surpasses 1k comments.

Navigation & Playback

Since r/Gaming is a massive gaming subreddit, you'll find images, videos, and even GIFs. Overall, navigating around the menus is seamless. Honestly, I don't have any trouble with browsing and navigation on any of Reddit's pages. Yes, there are times when too many people from the subreddit are online at once and that creates an overload which takes about 5 seconds to get back on track. But overall, watching videos, using sorting functions, commenting, and interacting with users is clean.

Reddit Gold

On average, the most popular posts get between three and five gold coins. However, it?s just the most popular posts that receive the most gold coins. The ones at the top of the rankings and below barely get any silver even though they have like 40,000+ upvotes. Nonetheless, this isn?t an easy community to please and you need to bring your A-game if you want to receive gold from a fellow member.

Filter by flair

Unlike r/SciFi, reddit's r/Gaming does not have an in-depth "Filter by Flair" categorization. This means that the posts are visible in random order without any tags. So, there aren't many ways in which you can sort the content based upon your preference. This is slightly disappointing given that other subreddits are making the most of this feature and are segregating the content to elevate the user experience.

Important rules you must know before joining r/Gaming?

Many Reddit enthusiasts don't think twice before joining a community. They forget to read the rules and often break them, which gets them blocked from the page for life. You don't want that to happen to you, so here are some tips on how to follow reddit's gaming rules carefully.
2. Not about being online or communicating with other people 3. Pictured something unusual or off-the-wall that made you laugh 1. I am not looking for a meme template or meme related to being online or communicating with other people. Instead, I'm looking for something that made me laugh and is not specifically gaming related.
Direct reply posts are typically seen when someone is trying to get popularity or votes, or just wants to quickly share something. While bandwagons tend to have a larger following, they also can be less substantive and can often attract less quality comments.

Design

The background banner on this subreddit looks really great with different icons related to gaming. You'll find clean vectors of Ludo, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC among a few others. I just love how these icons have been designed to fit right in and give this subred a distinctive feel as most of the competitive subreddits have a flat cover image.
Finally, in the comments section, you can reply to a post or start a new one. You'll find a "Join" button right beside r/Gaming. Under that, you'll find three options - Posts, Community Rules, and Other communities. Below that, you have the content bar, where you can create a post - add pictures or attachments. Under the posting section, you have three sorting options - Hot, New, and Top. Finally, in the comments section, you can reply to a post or start a new one.

It's loaded with content every day, with users adding more than 1000 posts including images and videos. I like this page, even though most of the users on it act like jerks, which is a small price to pay for being a part of such a gigantic community.
