r/Entertainment Free Review: How can I watch for free? (Updated 2022)

Reddit's entertainment forum is one of the largest online, with millions of subscribers. However, it doesn't hold the top spot because there are more popular entertainment platforms on YouTube with over five million subscribers each. The quality of content on Reddit is second to none and you'll always have a good time reading news and interacting with fellow redditors here.

The entertainment industry has become a very important facet of our lives. There is a wide spectrum of media including music, movies, and podcasts, videos, and gossip channels that keep us entertained throughout the day. Over the years, the content-delivery and content-consumption patterns have changed dramatically to fit the needs of the hour. Everyone involved in the entertainment industry needs to change with time, and that shift doesn't just affect studios, but musicians, movie stars, directors, writers, and marketing personnel as well.
With streaming services becoming more popular and compelling, major movie studios are fighting to hold on to their audiences. Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Disney, and 20th Century Fox are all competing fiercely to gain the attention of moviegoers. They have a large offline presence and are trying to establish themselves online as well. You'll find these companies as well as actors and directors starting their own YouTube channels. Almost all of them use Twitter and some of them use Reddit under a pseudonym.
Today we'll be reviewing one of the most popular communities on Reddit, r/Entertainment. You'll find the funniest, weirdest, fascinating, and alarming stories about anyone and everyone from the entertainment industry.

My recent experience on r/Entertainment

The two stories I upvoted on r/Entertainment were ?Venom? actor Riz Ahmed disclosing that he lost two family members to Covid-19 and ?Oprah Winfrey facing a wave of backlash online after past actions come to light.? The first story, originally published on, was about Venom actor Riz Ahmed losing two family members to Covid-19. The second story, published on, talked about Oprah Winfrey facing a wave of backlash online after past actions came to light.
Although the 'Riz Ahmed' story received more upvotes (9.5k) and comments (300), the 'Oprah' story received fewer votes and comments. This can be inferred from the stark difference in popularity between the two posts.

About r/Entertainment - Community & Members

Reddit's Entertainment subreddit is a community dedicated to discussing all things related to the entertainment industry. According to the subreddit's administrators, there are currently 1.5 million subscribers, of which 2-5k are online at any given time. Reddit's Entertainment subreddit has been around since September of 2007, and is one of the oldest subreddits on the platform.
If you love to stay up-to-date on the latest in pop culture and media, this is the subreddit for you!

How to access r/Entertainment?

If you're already a Reddit member, just type "r/Entertainment?" in your search bar and follow the subreddit. However, if you're new to the platform, you'll need to create an account and confirm your email address. Once you do so, you'll be able to follow subreddits, comment on posts, and even post anything on any of the subreddits.

Moderators of r/Entertainment

Since r/Entertainment is the number one source for entertainment journalists and audiences, it makes sense that it has more than 1-2 moderators to keep things running smoothly. These volunteers ensure that the content on the subreddit complies with group norms and is entertaining for everyone.
There are several right moderators on r/Entertainment- Jedberg, BritishEnglishPolice, greatyellowshark, davidreiss666, GuacamoleFanatic, just-a-traveler, and MuteRenew.

Why should you follow r/Entertainment?

Whereas with movies or TV Shows, you?ll have several dozen different perspectives on a topic. Hundreds and thousands of posts are updated each day on the Entertainment subreddit. There are news stories, spoilers, featured stories, teasers, trailers, and even featured columns about various personalities in the entertainment industry. The most popular post on any given day receives anywhere between 2,000-5,000 upvotes within 24 hours. This is a decent number given that the subreddit's population size isn't as big as r/videos or r/youtube. Also, you'll see the bandwagon effect in which if there's hard news there will be 10-12 stories surrounding the same topic shared by Redditors from around the world. Whereas with movies or TV shows you'll have several dozen different perspectives on a topic.

Community Engagement

Reddit's Entertainment subreddit is a lively community where people are always talking to one another. You'll find people updating posts, communicating through comments, and sharing quality posts on their social media profiles. One thing that I noticed about this page is that the posts seem to get upvotes and attention 2-3 days after the initial upload. So, if you create a post today, it might only attract 400-800 upvotes but after a couple of days, it starts to gain traction and easily surpasses 10,000 votes.

Browsing and Navigation

I'm not into celebrity news and gossip, but I still spend 5-10 minutes on r/Entertainment every day. Browsing across various categories is smooth and finding content is not much of a hassle. Nonetheless, I still feel that the mods can do a much better job by adding filter by flair to facilitate smooth navigation. Right now the only way to find relatable content is by using the basic sorting function. And thus, content segregation isn't the best on this subreddit.

Reddit Gold

Some stories on this particular page will grab attention while others won't. However, the popularity of a story in relation to gold distribution can be deceiving. For example, Tom Hanks' blood was used for Coronavirus vaccine research and gathered over 40,000 upvotes but only won 1 gold. On the other hand, ?The Midnight Gospel? is mind-expanding - Once You Get Past The First Few Episodes? and only has 4,200 upvotes but won gold.

Filter by flair

Many subreddits have a section called "Filter by Flair?" However, the most disappointing factor in r/Entertainment is that there is no filter by flair. That means that you cannot sort content based upon your preference. You'll need to rely on basic "Top," "Rising" content sorting features as there's no genre-based sorting available.

Important rules you must know before joining r/Entertainment?

Before joining r/Entertainment, be sure to follow the rules. Repeated violations of the rules can lead to your banishment from the page. So, make sure you follow these rules:
. 2. Any posts that are not related to the discussion will be removed.
the chat room with unnecessary messages. Don't spam the chat room with unnecessary messages.
are allowed No abusive comments are allowed on this site.
allowed We don't allow trolls on our site.
allowed on the server. We don't allow any racism or hate speech on the server.

Lastly, below the posts is a box that displays ?spoiler? icons for each post. Not much effort has been put into making this subreddit stand out. It features a standard icon with a blue cover at the top. Towards the right, there's a "Join" button and under that you have the "Create Post" section. In the hero section, you'll find several sorting options along with posts. You can choose content based on options such as "Hot?", "New?", "Top?", and " Rising ". Finally, below the posts is a box that displays ?spoiler? icons for each post.
To the right, you'll find information about our community, including a banner ad. In all, you'll find 2-3 banner ads in the side-bar and in-feed which won't affect your browsing experience.
