I highly recommend myTuner to anyone looking for a multichannel radio service that's different from the rest. It's one of the most interactive and user-friendly options out there, and I've been using it for nearly four years now with no problems.
What is myTuner?
If you're new to streaming radio, you may not have heard of myTuner Radio. It's an online/radio website/app directory that provides access to over 50,000 stations and 1 million+ podcasts on one website.
History
MyTuner was founded by Eduardo Carqueja in 2010. In 2012, myTuner's iOS app was launched as iTuner Radio v1.0. When the app reached Version 3, AppGeneration acquired the software from Digital Minds. Since AppGeneration's takeover, the app?s focus shifted from single app development to a multi-platform directory comprising a vast network of internet radio stations. And everything turned out well - myTuner became one of the best Radio apps not only on iPhone and iPad but on every other device with a cumulative network of 50,000 radio stations from over 200 countries!
Why should you stream myTuner?
There are many apps that provide filtering options, but not myTuner Radio. myTuner Radio allows you to filter your radio station based on location - city, state, and country, genre - indie, electronic, pop, rock, hip hop, etc. and content - news, music, local. This detailed categorization helps you find the suitable content in no time.
Extensive podcast coverage
My Tuner Radio has a huge station library with 50,000 different stations from all over the world. However, I think its podcast network is its biggest strength. Similar to the radio stations, there are multiple ways to access the podcasts. I personally prefer selecting through categories. You can choose from a wide range of options such as health, music, news, comedy, politics, arts, science and technology to name a few. You can even download the podcast on your mobile and listen offline - something I absolutely love.
Multi-platform support
MyTuner is available on the website and through the app. If you want to stream the service, you can download it for desktop devices - Web, Windows, Mac, wearables - apple watch and android wearables, mobile phones - Android and iOS devices, TV - Apple TV, LG TV, Samsung TV, Android TV and finally set-top box - Amazon Fire TV and Roku TV.
Apart from these, myTuner is also compatible with smart speakers and home appliances such as Sonos and Alexa. Additionally, it is also compatible with Android Auto, Apple Carplay, Bosch mySPIN, and Jaguar & Land Rover InControl Apps.
Alarm and timer support
We've found that having an alarm and timer support is a handy feature in many reviews. Having an alarm allows you to set your favorite station as the ringtone. Setting an alarm allows you to wake up to your favorite radio station automatically each morning. Naturally, the early morning update blends in nicely with the morning so you don't feel cranky.
Background play
Don't worry if you need to step away from the app - myTuner Radio works in the background so there are no discrepancies. You can create playlists and share them with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, or email. Design
I've seen in the majority of the radio music streaming websites that myTuner's user interface is respectable. The Red and white color combination is present in unison across the website and can be seen on every page. Apart from a few elements such as the alignment on the homepage, and app plug, I like the overall look and feel of this website.
Header
The myTuner header section is fairly simple and straightforward. You'll find 4 menus here - Stations, Podcasts, Sign-in, and Search.
Stations
If you click on stations, you will be taken to a new page with the most popular radio channels in your country. For instance, if you are streaming from the US, you will find Fox News Talk, WQHT Hot 97 FM, The Big 80s Station, and 21,000 other channels.
Similarly, if you're streaming from India, you'll get 465 channels including the likes of Radio Mirchi 98.3, Pehla Nasha, Radio Namkeen, 92.7 Big FM and AIR FM Gold to name a few.
Podcasts
If you click on a podcast, you'll be directed to a dedicated page with a list of podcasts on the right and the search and sort category on the left. You can also star mark your favorite podcast which will keep it on the top even if you change your language, country or city.
Sign-in
If you're having trouble logging in, or need to find alternate ways to access your account, the sign-in page has a simple layout that lets you register with your email address and password. If you're already registered, clicking the link on this page will take you to the login screen where you can use Facebook or Google Sign-in. If you've forgotten your password, clicking the link will reset it for you.
Hero Section
The Hero Section on myTuner website is a great resource for finding the best internet radio stations in your region. By default, the list will have popular stations from your country. For example, Fox News Talk, WQHT Hot 97 FM, and The Big 80s Station are some of the stations which you might see first.
Body
As you scroll down the website, you'll see three rows of top radio stations. After the channel thumbnails, you have a list of radio stations based on genre. There's a slider option that you can use to find the genre you want to listen to. Scroll further, and you'll see the Apps section which provides links to download the app and popular podcasts.
Inner pages
The inner page layout is like what you see on the homepage and through the header section. The audio player has channel thumbnail on the left, title on the right, followed by the channel link and a song that's currently playing. You can even check the tracks that were played before (up to one hour). There are ads on top of the inner page, just above the player and on the right side.

Desktop/Mobile experience
I absolutely love that everything about myTuner is straightforward. There are no complex configurations to deal with- just visit the website or download the app from the store and start listening to music or podcasts. I used my iPhone XR to download the app, and as soon as it downloaded, it used my location to choose the country and thus displayed the top channels in my location. By using left or right slider options on the app, I was able to access other sections such as local, news, pop music, recommended, etc.
If you want to listen to radio stations from other countries, you can simply tap on the flag on the upper right-hand corner and choose the country. Once you do it, you'll get suggestions consisting of Top Stations from that country.
Plans & Pricing
My Tuner is available in two versions - free and premium. The free version has ads and doesn't offer the equalizer feature, but you can access the feature through certain tasks such as setting an alarm, listening to a podcast, adding favorites and so on. If you like the platform and want to stream ad-free, you must make a one-time $3 payment which makes your account premium forever.
Suggestions I have for myTuner
Although I love the myTuner app, I had issues with the playback option. Turns out there's no way to use play/pause button using earphones. Thus, unlike me even if you own a phone with earphones, you'll need your screen to toggle back and forth.
Conclusion
I enjoy listening to podcasts and myTuner has proven valuable in helping me adjust my schedule. I have replaced audiobooks with podcasts and myTuner has been a perfect app for that switch. I would definitely recommend myTuner to anyone - specifically, the app.
