Masterani Free Review: How can I watch for free? (Updated 2022)

Masterani is an anime streaming website that hosts a little over 400 subtitled titles. There are currently only subtitled anime available on this website, which makes the video quality very good. However, the pop-up advertisements can be annoying and will quickly run users away from the site.

There is little information about the streaming service, Masterani, on the website. The brand is practically a ghost, with only a small Facebook page that is mostly empty and no ?About Us? section to be found. There are no dates signaling when the website may have popped up, but I did find a Reddit post from 2015 that mentioned it.
I couldn't find much information on the brand themselves, but I did find their Privacy Policy. Masterani claims to let viewers find their favorite anime links to watch. They also warn users that they collect personal data, like IP addresses and browser user agents whenever users leave comments. Supposedly, it helps keep the spambots away. There is a contact form available on the website, but I doubt it works because the contact email available is definitely a fake one.

Website Design

The first item on the list is the anime movie list, which includes a link to watch movies online or purchase them on DVD. There are also links to interesting articles and blog posts about anime. I was really impressed by how well the landing page of Masterani looked. The background of a full-image anime photo really drew my attention, and it looked polished, clean, and professional yet fun too. The header had three options - home, anime movies, or anime series. The first item on the list was the anime movie list which included links to watch movies online or purchase them on DVD. There were also links to interesting articles and blog posts about anime.
I thought the website layout was pretty good. It's smaller than most anime streaming sites I use, and there are about 450 titles in the Masterani library. After getting past the home page, the rest of the site is straightforward but slightly plain. It uses a night mode theme, like most other anime sites. The logo is simple but visually appealing.
Masterani's navigation is not the best. Most of their advertisements are in the sidebar or header, but they're annoying, but not a deal-breaker. However, trying to click on any portion of the website results in a slew of pop-up ads that prompt users to download suspicious files. If you're not fast enough to click the exit button, there's no telling what would happen to your computer.

Content

The website has a lot of anime series and movies available. I could tell that most, if not all, are subtitled versions of anime. There are only two pages of movies available, but there are over 12 pages of series.
There are many genres available on Masterani. Some of them are adventure, action, comedy, crime, drama, family, horror, music, mystery, romance, thriller, war, and sci-fi. There are many popular titles available on the site like The Promised Neverland, Fairy Tail, One Piece, Yugioh, and more.

Desktop & Mobile Accessibility

However, the mobile version of the website is a little better. The layout is simple and it does not have as many pop-ups. Unfortunately, it is also missing some features that are present on the desktop version. Overall, I do not like the desktop version of this website and I would not recommend it to anyone.
The mobile version of the website is not very good. The home page is squished together and not as impactful in this version. The text is much darker on mobile for some reason. It is Close to impossible to read headers. There is no application. Both versions are a pain to use.

Positives

I really like the size of the English subtitles on Masterani's website. In comparison to a lot of other subtitled anime, the ones on this website look larger and clearer. They're not obstructed by the animation, but they really enhance the reading experience.
The video quality is great. There is hardly any buffering time with Masterani. Within the first ten seconds of video, I had a clear, crisp anime. The night mode really enhances viewing for websites like these. The audio is up to speed, too. In terms of quality, I would rank the audio somewhere in the middle. The voices were loud enough, but the clarity was questionable.
The information about the series is another great feature. The descriptions offer a comprehensive summary of the show, including its genre, release date, writer, creator, voice actors, country of origin, duration and quality. Sometimes accompanying the description is a promotional poster of the series.
This website's home page is really stunning! The background portrait of an anime character is brilliantly colorful and clearly the focus. The layout and navigation are incredibly user-friendly, making it easy to find what you're looking for.
I thought the website had a low number of advertisements, which was a positive thing. However, there are a lot of intrusive pop-ups to make up for it, which is not ideal.

Negatives

At first, the negative aspects of Masterani appear to be well hidden. However, I was quickly fooled by its impressive home page. Unfortunately, there are some poor features that I can't ignore.
All in all, the pop-up ads on Masterani are really bothersome. My pop-up blocker wasn't able to get rid of them quickly enough, and they keep popping up even if users don't click on specific links. There are also a few ads that hover over the videos, so it's hard to watch them without getting distracted.
It's strange that Masterani is so difficult to find on social media. There's only a Facebook account that is mostly empty, and there are no "About Us" pages. The website's Privacy Policy text looks like it was printed in a colored font, but it's actually all gray on an all-black background. It's hard to read without being highlighted, which made me feel a little suspicious. There are some questionable lines about collecting personal data in the Policy text, which made me feel uneasy.
I checked out the anime streaming website and noticed that their content is quite limited. In comparison to other websites, this one does not carry a lot of dubbed English shows. I noticed that a lot of popular anime were missing from their list, which led me to question their legitimacy. However, they do have a tab to submit requests, so I'm hopeful that they'll be able to add more content in the future.

Improvements Needed

There are some massive improvements that could be made to improve Masterani. Unfortunately, I believe this website is past saving. My advice would be to scrap it and start fresh.
If I had to give suggestions based on the existing website in its current state, I would suggest that Masterani get rid of the pop-up ads and instead use their blank backgrounds to host more ads. I prefer ads I know about over ones that sneak up on me.
I would also suggest that the website host more titles. Currently, there are many more websites ahead of the game by hosting two titles of the same name. They host the subtitled original version and a dubbed English version. It is an easy way to expand the media library.

Summary

It's really frustrating because there are some great features about the website, but the bad overlaps the good so much it is irrelevant. On the surface, Masterani looks like a professional anime streaming service, but there are many issues that keep it from being successful. In terms of anime streaming, I wouldn't revisit this website.
