gogoanime.io
GogoAnime is an online anime streaming service that aims to bring the latest and greatest content to anime fans. The website offers a community forum for fans to share their thoughts and connect with others. Only comments posted on individual videos are allowed, keeping the interface clean and streamlined for viewers.
There is not much information about the history of the website. GogoAnime primarily tells viewers the goal of the site. They have a social media presence but it is light. The Facebook page does not have many posts, and the Twitter page is hard to track down and is empty of posts.
Website Design
I like the website design of GogoAnime. There are a lot of advertisements, but the site has a very cutesy vibe. The color scheme is in night mode, which is cool.
There are a lot of chibi characters on the website. I noticed that there is a chibi Naruto on the home page sitting above a menu. An issue I ran into was that their social media links were broken. I searched them on multiple platforms, but didn't find much.
The Gogo Anime TV logo is a memorable design. It is a stylized orange text of Gogo Anime TV. The orange color compliments the night mode theme well and it pops against the dark background, making reading text and easier.
The menus on the website are well designed. It is easy to navigate on the page. The organization of the website is perfect. There are a lot of categories with multiple sub-selections.
Content
GogoAnime is a streaming service that focuses on anime. There are many shows available to watch, and the organization is incredible. The main menu isHome, Anime List, New Season, Movies, and Popular.
On the homepage, you'll find recent releases in dubbed, with advertisements on the right. Down the page on the right are Ongoing Series subsections and Genre subsections. In the middle is a Recently Added Series section.
In the shoujo genre, titles that stand out include Moana, Cardcaptor Sakura, and K-On!. These are complete series with a beginning, middle, and end. Finally in the slice of life genre you'll find series such as Girls und Panzer, KonoSuba!, and Attack on Titan. These are anime with shorter episodes that follow a specific character or group of characters throughout their daily lives.
Some genres that are worth mentioning include the popular shonen, shoujo, and slice of life. There are countless series on the website. Some titles available in the shonen genre include Fairy Tail, Pokemon, and Boku no Hero Academia. There are a couple of episodes missing here and there, but most series are complete. In the shoujo genre, titles that stand out include Moana, Cardcaptor Sakura, and K-On!. These are complete series with a beginning, middle (if there is one), and end. Finally in the slice of life genre you'll find series such as Girls und Panzer, KonoSuba!, and Attack on Titan. These are anime with shorter episodes that follow a specific character or group of characters throughout their daily lives. Some people might not like to watch an anime for an entire season because it can be repetitive at times but others might love watching every episode!
The Anime List on the main menu includes every show on the website. The shows are organized in alphabetical order. There are 5 full pages of approximately 140 titles. GogoAnime hosts close to one thousand titles, which is impressive. With such a large library, it is easy to pick a great show.
The website hosts both dubbed and subtitled versions of popular anime shows. There are a lot of subtitled shows on the website, but they feature recently released dubs on the home page, so they are easy to find. The video and audio quality of both versions are wonderful, regardless of which version you choose.
Desktop & Mobile Accessibility
The desktop version of GogoAnime is really good. There are a few hiccups that aren't great. Overall, the stream qualities are amazing. The load times are good. Audio is also impeccable. The layout of the website is easy to look at for multiple hours at a time. The night mode color scheme gives the website a youthful and hip aesthetic.
The mobile browser version of this website is smaller in font size, but not unbearable. The ads are more overwhelming on the phone, but I would still recommend using the desktop browser. Unfortunately there are no mobile applications for GogoAnime.
Positives
There are a few positive features of GogoAnime. One of the best things about it is the organization the website uses. It is incredibly easy to find specific shows and browse new ones, as well. The main menu and other categories are easy to find in the layout of the website.
The great search function on GogoAnime is easy to find and works well. Not only does it bring up the title you are looking for, but it also brings up titles with related keywords.
GogoAnime hosts subtitled and dubbed versions of shows, both with more subtitles and dubs for popular shows. This website does a great job of highlighting the dubs on the home page, as well as a sub-genre of dubbed to filter all English shows. There is also a good selection of movies here.
The best thing about GogoAnime is that the video and audio quality are both amazing right out of the gate. This site takes almost no time to buffer or load at all, which is great. The speed at which it loads is also really impressive. There are no annoying commercials that interrupt the stream, which is terrific.
The great comment feature on the videos is a way to encourage fans to connect with each other. The option to participate in conversations with like-minded fans is a great feature. Discussing episodes on the specific episode is also a way to avoid spoilers.
The website's overall aesthetic is great. The color scheme and layout are a great combination. I especially love the chibi anime characters.
Negatives
While there are many positives about GogoAnime, there are also a few noticeable problems. One of the more notable issues is pop-ups. They are all over the website and can be very persistent. When you click on any button, such as the search bar or home page, a new window will open up completely. There may be an app to block the ads, but measures like this should not be necessary in order to navigate the website.
The About Us section of the site is unimpressive and only provides a couple sentences. I wanted to find more information so I tried social media. GogoAnime has media links in the top right-hand corner of their website. I assumed they would work and tried to track them down on Facebook and Twitter to find more information, but the links were dead. I tracked them on their social media by searching them but found nothing of interest. Both of their profiles were empty.
I didn't really enjoy GogoAnime because the lack of community made it difficult to communicate with others. They only wrote two sentences about themselves and claimed they were a community for anime fans, but there are no other ways to communicate on the site aside from the comments sections. I was disappointed that there wasn't a forum, since I was expecting that at the very least.
Improvements Needed
Some improvements that GogoAnime could make to cater to their viewers are developing an app to watch the streams on mobile devices, making communication easier on mobile devices, and adding features that would make the experience more enjoyable for their viewers.
The pop-ups on this website are getting out of hand. If we only reduced the number of them, it would make a big difference in how the website feels for users. The ads in the sidebars aren't bad at all, but the pop-ups are definitely a problem.
I think a forum would be a great solution for contact with comments on episodes. This feature would also drive extra traffic to the website.
Summary
Overall, I think GogoAnime is a decent website. It has a large library of popular and obscure titles in multiple languages. There are over 1000 titles available. The navigation and layout are nice. The vibe of the site is youthful and it gives off a hip appearance.
On the other hand, there are a lot of pop-ups. The mobile browser version isn't great. The community side of the website could use improvements, too.
