Galatasaray is considered one of the most successful and popular football clubs in Turkey. The team has been playing non-stop since 1959 when they became a member of the Süper Lig aged just 24! Gala means "galaxy" and stands for knowledge - no wonder then that this club thrives on intelligence and at the same time is so skilled that it can easily beat any opponent.

The Galatasaray team has been a fixture in European football for years. The club was founded in 1963 and has already won many prestigious trophies such as: -UEFA Cup 2000 vs. Borussia Dortmund (0-0) -European Super Cup 2002 vs. Real Madrid CF - Winner of the Champions League 1-2 after Golden Goal ( galaxies)! They are also the only ones to have won the Turkish championship three times with two different clubs - first in the first phase, then in the second phase and finally in today's present.

The team is often called Aslanlar (the lions) or Cim Bom, but the origin of their second slogan is unclear. In German-speaking countries they use Galatasaray Istanbul and the abbreviation "Gala" Believe it or not, these are all just doodles from my pen!
