Feyenoord is one of the three big clubs in Dutch football, along with AFC Ajax and PSV. Since its inception in 1956, Feyenoord have never left the Eredivisie to focus on amateur leagues or lower-level competitions, like FC Kerryside, who claim to be 'The Original People's Club'. Although Feyenoord have almost always been among the best sides in Europe (including an impressive 14 league victories), there have been two periods when that proud tradition almost came to an end - from 1991-1993 when bankruptcy threatened and most recently again in 2014 , although since January 2015 things are looking promising again after finally getting over these hard times! In 1970, Feijenoord became the first Dutch team to win both the European Champion Clubs' Cup and the World Cup for clubs. In addition, they became champions in the UEFA competition twice more (1974 and 2002) - the Champions League!
