Entertainment news is in high demand these days. One of the household names that readers think about when we think about entertainment news is E!News. The brand has been a reliable source for news since around 1996.
Originally, E! News was a long-running television show. Episodes of the show often recap celebrity gossip and release new movie and television trailers. The show is still running and episodes are available on the NBC Network.
The website is loaded with content about pop culture, lifestyle, celebrity coverage, breaking news, and more topics. The brand uses social media extensively and covers events constantly. E!News lives on Facebook and Instagram to give fans real-time coverage.
Website Design
The website E!News is regarded as a reputable source of information with a well-established brand. When we first saw the website, we were impressed by the high quality of the design.
The website's layout is clean and organized, with a sleek visual aesthetic. The best part about it is the visual appeal; it's an excellent example of how a good website should look. As well as being attractive, the page functions properly without any problems.
There is a large banner advertisement on the homepage, but it's not a problem. The rest of the website is advertisement-free. There's only one additional advertisement when reading articles. It's very well concealed in the top right corner.
Above the search bar is a drop-down menu with categories, such as "TV Shows" and "Music." The website's layout is very user-friendly and organized.
Content
There is a lot of content available on E!News. The categories are many. Users can easily read through their fill of endless pop culture, entertainment, celebrity drama, and breaking news.
E! News is always one of the first websites to break entertainment news. The staff works around the clock to ensure all breaking news is covered swiftly and accurately. Keeping up with viral trends and news is a difficult task, but E!News makes it look easy breezy.
Some of the most-read trending stories on the website are Cosmo pulling their Bachelor cover because of Victoria F. scandal, See Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey's reactions to Jessica Simpson mention, Watch North Westadorably crash Kim Kardashian and Kanye West interview. These titles are easily found in the sidebar. The homepage features categories like Latest Trending, Watch, Just In, Photos, Featured Videos, Shop, E!Shows, In-Depth Features and a never-ending scroll feature.
Desktop & Mobile Accessibility
The desktop version of the E!News website is great. I have no complaints about the user experience. All links work perfectly. The search functions work well. The overall aesthetic of the website is beautiful. It is very branded and pleasant to look at.
The mobile browsing version is good. It is optimized for mobile viewing and the layout is formulated differently than the desktop version, which is a great sign. However, the text is still slightly too small. The neverending scroll on mobile is also frustrating. Luckily, the menu floats above the content, so it is not hard to navigate. The top of the mobile website promotes the brand's app.
The app has high ratings in the app store and an interesting opening screen. It looks great and is formatted similarly to the desktop version. The first articles seen are the trending ones. The menu is set up a little differently with ENews, Explore, and Full Episodes at the bottom. The explore option offers popular categories, while the Full Episodes button leads viewers to the NBC Network.
Positives
Secondly, their coverage is always thorough and their journalistic integrity is unquestioned. Lastly, the team at E!News always puts a lot of effort into making sure their website is user-friendly and visually appealing.
There are many great things about E!News. Firstly, they have been around for a long time and that shows with their level of entertainment news coverage. Secondly, they are always thorough in their reporting which makes them credible sources. Lastly, the E!News team does a great job of making their website easy to use and visually appealing.
The website has a great deal of content to read. The articles themselves are well written and have helpful links throughout them.
The Just-In section is a great place on the website. It includes breaking news hot off the presses. E!News always leads the pack when it comes to breaking coverage.
The website's organization is top-notch; categories make it easy to navigate through the vast content. The main menu is a great way to break down content into digestible chunks, and the search function is well designed too.
Negatives
Every website has its good and bad moments. There are not many clear negatives about E!News. If I am being picky, there are a few things that could use improvement.
First, E!News prefers tabloid-style headlines for clocks and views. Sometimes these titles can be misleading, and it's frustrating as a reader to be fooled by bait-and-switch tactics. However, from a blogging standpoint, I understand their rationale for doing this.
Some of the content on entertainment websites can get repetitive. For example, when there is breaking news, many of the headlines on entertainment websites will be very similar. However, E!News is usually one of the first websites to have an article about the news. They frequently update as new information emerges.
I don't like the never-ending scroll on both the desktop and mobile versions of E!News. It feels impossible to reach the footer menu. I scrolled for what felt like ages before being able to access the About Us and FAQ portion of the website.
Improvements Needed
I don't have any good suggestions for E!News to improve. Their branding is really good, and I can't think of anything else that would need improvement. As for functionality, there are only a few things that I can think of.
The 'neverending-scroll' is a feature that I understand. However, I think it could be shortened just a bit so that it takes less time to be able to scroll to the bottom of the page where some important information is located.
Another suggestion I have is to eliminate click-bait style headlines. A few times I noticed misleading titles that looked controversial on the surface, but inside the article were completely different words than what I was expecting.
Summary
E!News is doing a great job of entertaining its website visitors with its impressive branding and logo. Everything from the website's layout to the content inside clearly demonstrates the editors' expertise in entertainment news. This sets a great example for aspiring entertainment reporters, and proves that E!News knows what it's doing.
Overall, E!News is a great source of news and updates.
Overall, I think E!News is the best entertainment news option on the internet today. Their layout and content are both phenomenal. The breaking news coverage is exceptional. All platforms that the brand utilizes is well maintained and updated frequently. There's something for everyone on the E!News website.
