With so many streaming apps and sites popping up every day, it can be hard to choose which one is the best. It seems like there are new ones popping up nearly every day, some with high quality designs and others that just arenât as good. What makes a streaming app really stand out these days? For example, if we were to compare Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus, what would it take for an app to be on par with those? Surely it wouldnât take anything too fancy or expensive- maybe just decent design and quality content. If this is the case, then maybe creating an app that competes against those top tier streaming options isnât such a daunting task after all.
I think that an app's design is important, not just for how it looks but for how it is designed. I'm not just talking about how the app looks - sure, the appearance of an app is also important but to a much lesser degree. It's true that an app should look good, no doubt, but in my opinion, aesthetics are something of a given ? an app that is easy on the eyes naturally comes out of an app that is designed well. This makes it easier for users to use and navigate, which in turn makes them more satisfied with the experience.
Another aspect of the best streaming apps is the app's content. It's not worth anything if the app doesn't have a ton of high-quality content for you to stream, right? Not only do you want a premium streaming app that grants you access to the most popular and critically acclaimed shows and movies available, but you also want one that caters to the kind of content that you enjoy.
Each streaming service has its own niche, with Netflix?s focus on original content. They produce comedy specials often, so if you are a fan of stand-up comedy, Netflix would be a good choice. There are new specials released every month, so it is easy to find something you will enjoy.
Some viewers who mainly watch dramatic series may want to consider Amazon Prime Video because their critically acclaimed dramas are unparalleled, such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Man in the High Tower.
I think it's really important to remember that content is not just about the service with the better selection of better shows. It's also about what you personally like and how a particular streaming app can reflect that.
Then, of course, there's always a matter of price. Streaming services range from extremely affordable to ?no way am I ever paying that much per month to watch TV.? Are some of the more expensive streaming apps worth their cost? Well, in some cases, absolutely ? if you can afford it. But, more often than not, in the world of streaming apps (as well as in most other categories), you get what you pay for.
Some of the more expensive internet cable services, like Hulu?s, are worth the money because they allow you to live stream hundreds of cable networks, no matter where you are. If that is something you're into, a more traditional cable model versus on-demand streaming, it is well worth the nearly $50 a month it will run you.
If you're like me, someone who prefers to have a library of movies and TV shows to watch whenever they want (without commercials), it wouldn't make sense to throw out so much cash every month on something like that. Maybe you don't even want to pay $10 a month for Netflix; maybe you're on a tighter budget. That's no problem at all--there are, actually, plenty of streaming apps out there with tons of content for under $10 a month.
And today we're going to be looking at an app called Big Star Movies. You may not have heard of it, but it's a pretty popular premium streaming app out there. Maybe you've never even heard of it. It's not the biggest, or the most popular, but it's worth knowing about, so without further ado let's take a look.
Design
When you first load up the Big Star Movies app, it offers an impressive looking full-screen page. There are tiles of some of the movies that this app provides, with one larger tile absent in the center. The app, at least for me, gets stuck here. Eventually, there will be a ?network error? notification, but the app does not close itself out, as many do in such a case.
So, it seems like you're having some trouble opening Big Star Movies. I understand how that can be frustrating, but I'm sorry to say that the app's design is unfortunately not up to par. There are also numerous user reviews that mention bugs and glitches which make the app very difficult to use.
Overall, the average rating for Big Star Movies on the Apple App Store is 2.4 stars. It seems about right, based on the rating, because it seems like at one point the app must have loaded up fully. Maybe there is a bug with it and the developers of Big Star Movies are working to fix it right now.
Content
Some people find the titles of the films in this app obscure. However, this is intentional, as the app specifically caters to independent and international films. However, for those who are not familiar with indie films, it might be helpful to know that these are not the kind of movies you would read about on Indie Wire - they are really independent. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is something to keep in mind before downloading the app or paying for it.
Devices
Big Star Movies is available on a variety of devices. From Smart TVs to Roku, from Android to iPhones, and everything in between. You can enjoy this app (if you can get it to work) on your cellphone, tablet, smart TV (all brands), Fire, Fire TV, Chromecast, etc. That is one great thing about this app; if your device can play streaming content, you can access the Big Star Movies app from it.
Pricing and Plans
Although the 'Big Star Movies' app does have a few titles that you can stream for free without upgrading your subscription, in order to make the most out of this app, you will have to become a premium member. The good news about this, though, is that a premium membership is very affordable and at only $4.99/month, Big Star Movies has the potential to be one of the best deals on the market when it comes to premium streaming apps (if it could work consistently).
Suggestions that I have for Big Star Movies App
Obviously, my number one suggestion for Big Star Movies is that they work on their app so that it works. I was greatly disappointed to find that this app would not even open. Usually, buggy and glitchy apps at least let you get past the splash screen?the glitches usually don?t take hold until you attempt to stream something. Granted, I only tried the iOS app?it is possible that the other versions of the app are better built. You?ll have to try it out for yourself (it is free to download).
